[GNOME-India] GNOME India & GNU/Linux Asia 2004

hi,

seems that the initial interest and rush has petered off and we are
nowhere by the progress yardstick. i'm being told that we might still
pull off something if sponsors are confirmed by 26.01.2004. so for
all those active members who wanted to know more (in order to
initiate talks with companies) here is what we have.

[1] GNU/Linux Asia 2004 has the webpresence at www.linuxasia2004.com

[2] Projected audience turnaround is sizeable [consult the latest
LinuxForYou pullout]

[3] GNOME India stall/booth will be one of the unique presence at the
summit (conceptually different from others)

[4] GNOME India stall/booth will function (as expected) as the
Regional Marketing presence of GNOME Marketing

[5] Financial implications of sponsorships and cost centres involved
have already been discussed throughout Dec'03 [please consult list
archives]

[6] Preferably more than 1 company should be involved in the
sponsorship process for the stall/booth

[7] GNOME project will be adequately highlighted through the eyecandy
as well as bleeding edge whizzbangs (to be discussed more on
stall/booth availability)

[8] GNOME goodies are proposed to be on the offer (either through
on-the-spot competition or through give-aways)

[9] Sponsors can highlight the contribution to GNOME as a whole, but
not 'place' their products

[10] Banner space at stall/booth as well as logo on handouts
(allowing 'danglers' is an unanswered question)

[11] GNOME India is *not* a registered body, so it does not possess
any Bank A/c and thus cannot get involved in monies being transacted.
The sponsors should find a way and the means to make a stall/booth
available for GNOME India. They should also talk with the organisers
for the said stall/booth rates discount (if any) and keep the list
(or the List Owners) in the loop as to the progress on such talks.

[12] For further details and clarifications (if any) please feel free
to contact me :: sankarshan at bengalinux dot org, perhaps it is best
if a majority of the members meet on #gnome-india to thrash issues
out.

26.01.2004 brings in a few (national) holidays, cannot be helped as
that is the best extension possible. the above list attempts to bring
all the issues discussed so far to the forefront. if someone has some
more ideas/suggestions/suggested modifications, please add to the
list.

Warm regards
Sankarshan
