Behavior of msgmerge

Hi all.

Would anyone know what the behavior of msgmerge is for the following
scenario?

$ msgmerge current.po current.pot -C compendium.po -o new.po

If both current.po and compendium.po had different translations for the very
same original string, after running the command above which one would end up
in new.po?

I think by having that information I can speed up the translation process of
some files.
