CVS server: login aborted

I get this when trying to log in to checkout some files from the gnome CVS:
cvs [login aborted]: connect to cvs.gnome.org(12.107.209.249):2401
failed: Connection refused
I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing anything wrong. Is there some problem
with the CVS?
