sed/perl s jobs on the whole po directory

Hi 

Regarding the need to "translator_credits" > "translator-credits" in
quite a lot of modules. Could somebody remind me why is it not
appropriate to do this as a sed/perl s job on all the *.po files, done
by the developer? What are the translators reasons for opposing this
practice?

As a small time translator myself I don't see the downside of it.
