Yes, this is perfectly ok. You're correct.

OTOH, I start to think that the locale of machine used to generate
stat (is it w.g.o?) can affect the outcome. From the build log, 
tamil (ta) po files failed completely during msgmerge. I have privately
generated stat pages; even it is still reported as an error (tamil is
non-portable or something like that), msgmerge can at least merge it
with latest pot file.

Or does the gettext version (I use 0.10.40) has anything to do with
this?
