honestly, i don't really see how the menus can be re-arranged without
patching all the .desktop files anyway.

eg, gnome-calculator.desktop only has 'Application' and 'Utility'
keywords - if you want to do anything other than the stock setup it
seems like you need to patch a ton of stuff anyway.

(however this is probably easier to do / maintain than the old setup).
