While this patch is great, it works by disabling some of 1.4's library
dependency handling.  This will break any build that depends on this
feature.  While all of the GNOME stuff seems to work OK w/ the patch, I
have encountered a few things where I had to revert to an unpatched
libtool to successfully build.
