Well; my feeling is that gtk-only apps are incomplete without at least
GConf (which I believe was mentioned) to allow central administration.
One could think of other core technologies that may be invisible, and
irrelevant to a chunk of users - such as a11y - that are crucial for
Gnome as a project.
So - I suppose if we wanted to list these all as individual
requirements we could do - so as to remove the reference, but then since
this sort of functionality is a major function of the 'Gnome platform'
it seems reasonable to ask that people build on it.
eg. there are some particularly horrific examples in xchat (hot-link /
browse selection) stuff that (I presume) are a consequence of it not
using the Gnome code for that purpose.
