I'm not sure exactly what the requirements are here, since I added them
after Michael's request, so it's Michael who should specify them.

I think the right solution is to use the same GConf database, so yes,
that means connecting (or obtaining a reference) to the local GConf
daemon.

ssh activation for the remote activation server, not for the components
themselves, which should be activated by the remote b-a daemon that has
