Hi, A few weeks ago, I was testing and playing with PAM. I noticed when PAM reports my password is going to expire in a few days, gdm does indeed print this message on the screen as it is supposed too. But Gnome is started immediately after login and because of that the message is not noticed unless you are really really looking for it like I did. But otherwise it would not be noticed. I assume the same happens with any message coming back from PAM at a successful login. I see two solutions : - Wait a few seconds before starting gnome, when PAM gives back a message - Present the message on the screen after gnome has started. This might not work well together with other sessions, like KDE. And surely not in the setup I have.
