This is not a die and respawn bug 1) gsm has a loop of death detection AFAIK
2) look at the TIME on the nautilus process

What seems to me is the problem is that Nautilus code to check/set the
desktop is being triggered continuously.  I'm looking into it.

The X connection stuff is because Nautilus has to make a new X connection if
I can remember correctly to do the background foo.
