I'd say its in everyones interest that the majority of people can get 
packages from whatever vendor/source they like not build them from scratch.
It certainly cuts down on the support overhead and makes it easier for people
to write apps (which is going to be the important thing). If that happens to
be Ximian then providing they make sure it works I really dont see a
problem
