Heya,
A couple of us in Sun are involved in bringing GNOME to architectural
review and going through some of the possible problems that might arise
when GNOME gets introduced into Solaris...
Anyway, one of the problems was with the .desktop files. We [actually
Nils] came up with the conclusion that they should be really be
namespaced in some way [possibly according to which package they came
from?], especially since there is a new plan to dump them in a central
location and use George's new vfolder system on the menus.
The potential problems without this namespacing would be if 3rd party
ISV's wanted to install a .desktop file without the fear of overwriting
another .desktop file.
Any thoughts on this?
See ya,
Glynn ;)
