Why doesn't work ?

I have Caldera OpenLinux eDesktop 2.4 but I love Gnome, so I have installed
Helix-Gnome. But I have a problem: when I try to change background image (right
click on screen then left clik on "configure backgroun image") appears an error
message saying : "unable to locate the file:
background-properties-capplet in
your PATH ! We are unable to set background "

What happened ?
Is gnome working bad ?
Please help me !
