Part of the problem we've discovered when this was discussed last year was
the highlighting = selection problem in the file selection box as well --
because many behaviours that would be nice would depend on that selection
system and it kills cut'n'paste on X (which I'd gladly lose -- its not much
benefit so far anyway :-).
