<para>&app; supports a variety of image file formats. The GdkPixbuf library determines file formats eog can load and save; however, you can use plug-ins to extend the list. The following list is the default file formats:</para>

<title>&app; Features</title>
<para>&app; has a variety of features to help you view your images. You can zoom in and out at a variety of levels or view the image full screen. Regardless of your zoom level, &app; uses a low amount of memory. You can also rotate and flip the image you are viewing.</para>
<para>If you are looking at a collection of images, &app; can display EFIX data. This feature requires <literal>libefix</literal>. You can also do mass modification on all the selected images.</para>
<para>&app; also has special support for jpeg files, requiring both <literal>libjpeg</literal> and <literal>libefix</literal>. This feature allows lossless saving of rotated and flipped images. It also preserves and updates EFIX data when you save.</para>

<para>To scroll around an image that is larger than the image window or full screen window, you can use the following methods:</para>

<listitem><para>Drag the image opposite to the direction in which you want to scroll. For example, if you want to scroll down the image, drag the image upwards in the window.</para>

<para>You can zoom in or out of the image through a variety of methods.</para>

<listitem><para>You can use the middle mouse button to scroll in and out. Scrolling down zooms out; scrolling up zooms in.</para></listitem>
<listitem><para>You can use the zoom buttons in the toolbar. They are also located in the <guimenu>View</guimenu>. You can zoom in and zoom out. <guilabel>Normal</guilabel> will restore the picture to its original size. <guilabel>Best Fit</guilabel> will resize the image so it will fit in the window.</para></listitem>

Full-screen mode displays the image in a window that fills the full screen. The window does not contain a window frame, titlebar, menubar, or toolbar. To exit from this mode, press the <keycap>Esc</keycap> or <keycap>F11</keycap> key, or <keycombo><keycap>Ctrl</keycap><keycap>W</keycap></keycombo>.</para>

<para>Select the <guilabel>Interpolate image on zoom</guilabel> option to enable image interpolation when you change the zoom factor for the image. If you select this option, &app; uses bilinear interpolation. Bilinear interpolation is a simple and fast method of interpolation. When you zoom in on an image, &app; uses up to four adjacent pixels to compute the colors of the new pixels. When you zoom out of an image, &app; averages regions of color in the existing image to compute the colors of the pixels. </para>

<para>Select the <guilabel>Loop sequence</guilabel> option to cycle endlessly through the list of images during the slide show. If you do not select this option, the slide show returns to the collection view after the last image is displayed.

<para>Use the <guilabel>Show next image automatically after ... seconds</guilabel> spin box to specify how long each image is displayed during the slide show. If you set this value to zero, the first image is displayed permanently and the other images are not displayed at all in the slide show.
