hello from a new member

I have just joined the gdp and would like to briefly introduce
myself.  I am a prof of CS at NY Univ and a longtime supporter of free
software.  I have co-authored a book (highly parallel computing with
george almasi) and am a competent proofreader/editor.

Some months ago I did a round of editing on the users guide that Dave
Mason considered helpful.  I realize that I should once again chip in.

Dan Mueth suggested that I initially look at the panel document
.../gnome-core/panel/help/C/panel.sgml, which I will be doing during
the next two weeks while on vacation.
