Project gnome-love was created just for that purpose - to provide easy
entry points. See wiki page
(http://gnomesupport.org/wiki/index.php/GNOMELove), but, as it hasn't
been updated for quite a long time, to see what projects are actually
ongoing try #gnome-hackers channel on irc.gnome.org server, and join
mailing list (via http://lists.gnome.org)

Cheers,
Maciej
