Problems building gtkhtml 3.1.16...

Hi all,

I'm trying to build gtkhtml 3.1.16 (from the source rpm provided at
http://people.redhat.com/dmalcolm/SRPMS/).

The problem I'm running into is that the resultant binary rpm ends up
depending on libgtkhtml-3.1.so.9, provided by gtkhtml3-3.1.14.

I've tracked this down to the file
gtkhtml-3.1.16/components/html-editor/.libs/libgnome-gtkhtml-editor-3.1.soT,
which gets installed by libtool as libgnome-gtkhtml-editor-3.1.so.

What I don't understand is that by the end of the build process, the
.libs directory contains both a .so and a .soT. Running ldd on each, and
grepping for libgtkhtml, the .so has the correct dependancy (3.1.so.10)
whereas the .soT has the incorrect one. I'm not familiar enough with libtool
to figure out how or why it is creating the .soT library and choosing that
one to install rather than the .so library.

I've tried to attach a copy of a typescript showing the rpmbuild session,
but the mailing list wouldn't accept it. To the admins, the bounce message
"we don't need no steenkin' scr files" is not very helpful in indicating
what about my message is improper.

Can someone help enlighten me? BTW, I'm not a list subscriber, so please
CC my email. Thanks.
