Need Information regarding Panel

Hi,
   I am looking at the "_AppletData" structure in
the gnome-panel/panel-widget.h file.Could anyone pls tell me what does
the member expand_major, expand_minor, cells, min_cells, in that
structure refer to ? 
  Also what does the members "size", "packed", "sz", in the
"_PanelWidget" structure refer to ?
