build of gnome-2.0 fails for libgnomecanvas

Hi.  I am trying to build gnome-2.0 and when it gets to
libgnomecanvas it dies with the following problem:

checking for pkg-config... /gnome/head/INSTALL/bin/pkg-config
checking for gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0 libart-2.0 >= 2.3.8 pango >= 1.0.0 pangoft2 >= 1.0.0... Package pangoft2 was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `pangoft2.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'pangoft2' found

configure: error: Library requirements (gtk+-2.0 >= 2.0.0 libart-2.0 >= 2.3.8 pango >= 1.0.0 pangoft2 >= 1.0.0) not met; consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

ERROR:libgnomecanvas: Cant autogen


Build failed on libgnomecanvas

Now pango previously did work,(at least ig gave no errors)  so how can I fix it so it finds
pangoft2?

I am using the vicious-build-scripts.

Any assistance would be appreciated.
