GNOME Accessibility Early Access Program by Sun Microsystems, Inc.

GNOME Accessibility Early Access Program by Sun Microsystems, Inc.
===================================================================

DEADLINE EXTENDED FOR THOSE DEVELOPERS INTERESTED!
PLEASE RSVP TO anne tirsell Eng Sun Com BY OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 21st!

Sun's leading role in defining and implementing a GNOME Accessibility
architecture underscores Sun's commitment in making the desktop
accessible for users with disabilities.

Sun invites all GNOME developers to make a difference by
porting your existing and future GNOME applications to
the early access GNOME Accessibility Framework.

You can do this by using GTK+ 2.0 which provides an integrated accessibility
architecture in combination with accessibility toolkit libraries (ATK).

Making your applications accessible is straightforward and involves:

o Modifying your existing applications to use the standard
widgets of the GTK+ 2.0; since GTK+ now integrates
with the Accessibility Toolkit (ATK), much accessible
 		behavior is inherited for free.

o Modifying any custom widgets you may have in your application
so they interface with ATK directly.

o Testing your applications after interfacing with GTK+ 2.0
and ATK by utilizing the Ferret libraries located in GAIL
 		(GNOME Accessibility Implementation Library).

You will get expert help from Sun's accessibility engineering team
who is willing to work very closely with highly motivated engineers
that want to be first to deliver accessible applications with GNOME 2.0.
