Trash can

Hello,

I have written a shared library which, when preloaded, intercepts calls to
GNU libc's unlink() function and makes sure that those files won't be
deleted, but rather stored in a different directory.

I would like to know whether you would consider using it as a basis for
GNOME's trash can an interesting option. It would allow the user to be
certain that, independently of the way in which he deleted files (e.g.,
using Nautilus, at a virtual console, or using a terminal emulator under
GNOME), the "deleted" files would show up in GNOME's trash can.

Besides the change to the trash can code itself, the only thing which would
be required would be a change to the GNOME/Gtk "unlink" function (I don't
know if this is the correct name), so that it actually invoked GNU libc's
unlink().

Thank you for your attention,

Manuel Arriaga

PS: I am sending a similar message to kfm-devel kde org
