Applet menu must be clicked twice if the widget is a event_box

Hi,

I've got a little problem, i've created a applet that displays a
gnome_pixmap. 
Also i want the applet to respond to a left click on the pixmap so i put
the
pixmap in a event_box. So far so good.

But the problem is that i now have to click the menu twice before anything
happens. I've noticed this same problem with other programs that use
the event_box.

I'm using Helix Gnome 1.2

gnome-core-1.2.2.1-0mdk_helix_1
gnome-applets-1.2.2-0mdk_helix_1
And mandrake 7.1
