I would claim to have a significant amount of hacking experience,
and I have yet to get it built. I try about twice every week or so.
The main problem is the the proliferation of potentially unstable
and/or non-standard GNOME libs required to build it. The HACKING
file has an excellent list of which branches of which modules are
required to build it, but this doesn't seem to be enough. I have
a stock RedHat-6.1 machine (haven't upgraded to 6.2 yet, as it's
my desktop machine and I need it for *real* work.
It may require a slightly different construction process for each
distro out there, as they all probably have slightly different
releases of gnome support libs.
I'll be more than happy to document any roadblocks I come across
in the build process. Stay Tuned.
