CVS : gnome-core - version?

Early this morning (european time) I checked out gnome-core with the
command:

    cvs -z3 checkout gnome-core

But the version is

    ke@tux:~/Projects/gnome/gnome-core > grep gnome-core configure.in 
    AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE(gnome-core, 1.0.5)

Is there some wrong?  OTOH, po/ChangeLog shows quite recent additions.
