I tried to do that on "test-grid" from the libgnomedb "testing"
directory.

$ gdb test-grid

I get something like:

"... not in executable format: File format not recognized" ?????????

On another application that crash I get:

#0  0x00000000 in ?? ()
#1  0x40517d16 in gtk_tree_view_get_type () from
/usr/lib/libgtk-x11-2.0.so.0
Cannot access memory at address 0x4c
