[gnome-db] Problem connecting

I am playing about with mergeant and am having the following problem

I have created a test database using postgres
I can connect using psql, but when I try to connect using mergeant the
logon window just reappears blank

the connection string is
PASSWORD=tuxopen;HOSTADDR=127.0.0.1;PORT=5432;USER=mike;DATABASE=mike;HOST=localhost

anyone any ideas
