yes, first of all, you need the interbase libraries on the client
machine. Then, libgda's configure script (if you're compiling from
sources) should detect it (look at its output). Then, just run
gnome-database-properties, and create a new data source for the
interbase database.
In Debian, you can install firebird (apt-cache search firebird), which
is a GPL version of interbase.
I'm not sure though the interbase provider works, since I haven't tested
it myself. So, please, report any problem you find while running it.
