hmm, are you compiling HEAD from CVS? Because the stable version
(gnome-1-x-branch in CVS) does not require this version of autoconf.
If you want to compile from CVS, get the stable branch.
If you want to compile the GNOME 2 version, you'll need a GNOME 2 build
environment, which you can get by checking out the vicious-build-scripts
module in CVS and reading its README.
