i don't know. i can use the shared lib libclntsh.so on my linux box but
i have to use the libclntsh.a on aix4.3.2.  on another linuxbox
(ora8.0.5)
there're different lib*.a's needed.
in some other apps i've developed there's a config-script
checking for the libs (they will be included, if they are present :)
