AFAIK, there should be perl bindings for the gnome-db client libs for
you to be able to do what you say. You must use the gda-client lib for
this, if it's possible to call them without perl bindings (which I don't
know), you should be able to load in a clist widget. In fact, this is
how the GnomeDbGrid widget works (it's a clist).

Perl bindings is on the TODO list anyway, so as soon as somebody who
knows perl do it, you'll have them.
