Summary: koi8-r encoding: incorrectly shown with some fonts

Here is a problem I found with evolution. I am not sure if it is
evolution bug or gtkhtml, so I am filing it for evolution.

Problem: I am using en_US locale but occasionally get messages in Russian
(koi8) encoding.

If I select in control-center->HTML viewer->fixed width font to be
-adobe-courier-medium-r-normal-*-18-*-*-*-m-*-koi8-r
or
-b&h-lucidatypewriter-medium-r-normal-*-18-*-*-*-m-*-koi8-r

(I do have these fonts installed, and they have Cyrillic glyphs)
then in my messages, instead of Russian, I see something like

? 25@:0

For some other fonts (e.g.,
-monotype-courier new-medium-r-normal-*-20-*-*-*-m-*-koi8-r)

the message is displayed perfectly.

I am somewhat puzzled. For the record, the message contained correct
headers identifying its encoding as follows:

Content-Type: text/plain; charset=KOI8-R
Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64

If needed, I can send you a test message - you do not need to know Russian
to see if it correctly displayed.

Speculation:
It may be related to the fact that when you request font
-adobe-courier-medium-r-normal-*-18-*-*-*-m-*-koi8-r
what you actually get is the font
-Adobe-Courier-Medium-R-Normal--18-180-75-75-M-110-koi8-ub
koi8-ub is an encoding that contains glyphs from koi8-r, koi8-u, and then
some; it is aliased to koi8-r. Still I can't see how it can be a problem :)
