not necessarily. Even OpenOffice does compile the idl files with services 
just for documentation purposes. Though, with OAF there is another use 
for services. More in my answer to Maciej latest mail.

Anyway, it might not be a bad idea to talk with some CORBA guys about the 
service concept.
