Re: Monikers mail (_really_ long)

Hello guys,

Thanks to Mathieu for giving us a good presentation of Monikers and
the reason for their existance.

One of the big problems (and this is something the Microsoft
engineers have acknowledged) is that the IMoniker interface currently
derives from IPersistStream. But Monikers are much more powerful than
what was originally thought of, and it does not make a lot of sense to
have the monikers derive from the IPersistStream interface.

I think our default implementations of the monikers will support
both interfaces and we will be done with that.

What I want to do before implementing Monikers (and it is not
necessarly way it is currently speced out on the bonobo/idl files) is
to look into the new Moniker API functions available in the new
versions of COM, as they do have some sort of async and progressive
moniker interfaces.

New versions of COM apparently have a other nicer interfaces for
manipulating monikers

Miguel.
