ORBit-0.5.6 : event service fails to build

Does anyone know about ORBit-0.5.6?
I just got the source from ftp.gnome.org. It mostly builds except services/event (fails to compile CosEventChannel.idl).
Is this service necessary?
Come to think of it what is it for? (side question)
