gnome-triggers?

Some people said they wanted to use CORBA directly for an event
channel-ish system. Miguel said he didn't like the gnome-triggers API.

I'd like to start putting sound events everywhere (and therefore, using
the event handling system of choice). Has anyone come up with some reasons
why the gnome-triggers API should be replaced/changed?

(Implementation is mostly irrelevant at this point...)
