GCM and digiKam - how to configure?

Well, you certainly want to enable color management in digikam. This
means the image source profile is used and is converted to the screen
profile, as long as you set the profile for color managed applications
in GCM. By setting the source profile you're really just setting a X
atom on the root window which digikam can detect and use.

If digikam works as a ICC profile in X compatible client, you just
have to enable both options in GCM and both options in digikam. Are
you using the vendor profile for our screen or are you using a
calibrated generated version? Without come sort of calibration you
don't know whether the lighter or darker image is the "correct" image.
