I just submitted a patch to solve many of the accessibility problem with 
Gaim.  We are still discussing how to provide a caret in the conversation 
window.  So, the two remaining issues using Gaim with Gnopernicus:

1. Due to a bug, you can't put the keyboard focus on the conversation log 
text box.  I'll look into this.

2. There is no caret for reviewing the conversation window.  We're 
discussing that issue on gaim-devel.
