What error message does it give exactly?  I use jhbuild on an RH9
machine (as I'm sure many others on the list do) so I'm sure we can sort
you out somehow :)  After make-installing jhbuild, have you run 'jhbuild
bootstrap' and set up your ~/.jhbuildrc file before attempting to build
any of the GNOME components?
