Re: How to download the Gnopernicus beta release ?

Hi Nath:

If you want to build from CVS source, instead of going to the lxr or
bonsai CVS online tools (which are intended for browsing and querying
the sources, not building), you need to download using CVS itself.

The most direct way is to download from the gnome.org "anonymous" CVS
account. First set your CVSROOT environment variable

CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous anoncvs gnome org:/cvs/gnome

Then do a "cvs checkout" :

cvs checkout gnopernicus

In order to build gnopernicus you will need a working build environment
for GNOME 2, which can take some patience to set up. There is
information on the GNOME 2 web site. You will need up-to-date versions
of the following tools:

autoconf (2.52)
automake (1.4-p5)
pkgconfig (preferably version 0.11.0 or higher)

Once you have these in your PATH, cd to the gnopernicus directory, and
run "./autogen.sh

You may optionally specify, on the autogen command line,
"--prefix=<some_prefix>"
where "<some_prefix>" is the directory where you wish to install
gnopernicus, perhaps /opt/gnome-2.0.

If autogen completes successfully (it will help tell you if you have
everything you need), you can run "make" and "make install" to install
gnopernicus.

You may need to do a cvs checkout of "gnome-common" and build it via
"autogen", "make", "make install" before building gnopernicus.

I am sure that the BAUM team will have other hints and suggestions...

best regards,

Bill
