Has anybody had time to check out the official Olympic website for Salt
Lake?

I don't normally like to bash events which are designed to bring the world
together, however, like its predecessors, this Olympic site does not even
come close to embodying "the experience" the Olympics intends.

[-- see "Storm brews over new Olympic website:"
http://www.disabilitynet.co.uk/TwoShare/getPage/01News/01Current/23-11-2001/
Storm+brews+over+new+Olympic+website

and (legacy) "Olympic Website & IBM dragged kicking and screaming into
Accessibility" http://www.ten-20.com/olympicwebsite.html

Excerpt -- "The designer is responsible for the design of the site. If that
site is not accessible and someone takes issue through the courts. As the
designer you are responsible, and will be held to account. Ignorance of the
law is not held to be a defence. You should know better. "

and the blatant lying MSN SLC Website Press Release
http://www.msnbc.com/m/info/press/01/0628.asp

Excerpt -- "The bulk* of the site content, including results and athlete
biographies, will be accessible to all visitors" ... "our expertise in
cross-platform convergence" --]

Makes you wonder who *really* is sponsoring the SLC website when 4 plug-ins
are "needed" to view the site! (+ javascript!)

The even larger bummer is, it is possible to bring this experience online
and accessible to all.

P.S. > I strongly recommend CBC (if you can get it) for a good (objective)
"Olympic experience" for TV coverage -- unlike NBC which surely again will
neglect to realize any countries other than the U.S. have attended!
