[g-a-devel]Re: [HELP] Building GOK 0.10.0 (tarball from gok.ca) : dependencies !

Michel,

The best solution is to install the latest GNOME. This will give you a recently built gok, as well as the dependancies to build gok from source. There are a number of ways to get the latest GNOME... but you might want to wait until March 31st and grab GNOME 2.6

Unfortunately, some of the http://gnome.org/ site is still not live as an investigation into a server intrusion continues.

The log output prior to the output you provided should give you details as to the specific library requirement that is out of date. Is your PKG_CONFIG_PATH variable set up ok?

cheers,

David

I get the following, on RedHat 8 or Fedora Core when trying to build
gok :

configure: error: Library requirements (        libgnomeui-2.0 >= 2.0.0
        cspi-1.0 >= 1.3.4       libspi-1.0

= 1.3.4 libbonobo-2.0 >= 2.0.0 atk >= 1.3.0

gtk+-2.0 >= 2.3.1 gail libwnck-1.0 esound) not met; consider adjusting the
PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if your libraries are in a
nonstandard prefix so pkg-config can find them.

Of course, when I try to solve these dependencies, I have to solve more
and more dependencies and cannot manage it !

Is there a way (static libs ?) to get rid of most of these dependencies
?

If not, what is the best distribution ?

Is downloading and installing the latest GNOME a solution ?

thanks,
Michel
