Re: [g-a-devel]gok/gnopernicus questions

Hi Brian,

This sounds like a very useful endeavour. For the first item I'd like a clarification:

Brian Cameron wrote:
I am helping my manager put together a list of marketing requirements
for the Sun GNOME desktop, and I had a few questions about Gok and
Gnopernicus to help me flesh things out.

1. What preference options are available in gnopernicus and gok which are necessary requirements in order for these programs
to be useful to people with disabilities?

Some might argue that most all the gok preferences are necessary requirements (e.g. choosing scanning speed). There are preferences outside gok that also are pertinent such as AccessX, as well as the "Enable assistive technologies" checkbox.

Could you provide more detail?

2. Could the gnopernicus team provide me with a list of braille
   displays that are currently supported?
3. What i18n issues exist in gok & gnopernicus. My understanding is
that gnopernicus only supports English voices with text-to-speech,
that the braille display currently only supports Latin characters
and that certain Gok XML files have not yet been translated, and
that there are issues with translating them due to the length
of the files. Is this a full/accurate understanding of the existing l10n/i18n/g11n issues in gok & gnopernicus?

The gok xml translation issues can be followed here:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90500

Bill and I need to discuss the remaining i18n loose ends in the gok code as well as the xml issue(s). He has suggested this all be solved for GNOME 2.4.1 and I am in agreement.

I'm guessing you'd like some good prose from the perspective of "Known Localization Issues" - is this correct?

cheers,

David
