Hi:
I have just checked a major new revision of the gnome-mag module into
CVS HEAD. The APIs have changed significantly, and the magnifier binary
now gets installed into the "bin" directory (for instance,
/opt/gnome-2.0/bin), since it is user-executable as well as being a
Bonobo-activatable service.
However the OAFIID has changed a bit too, so if you have clients that
look for a specific OAFIID string and you have a previous version
installed, they should continue to work. New code and new revisions of
existing gnome-mag clients should be modified to use the new IDL
interfaces. The IDL for gnome-mag should be considered "near-final" at
this time, the next IDL revision will probably be "1.0".
The new "magnifier" binary supports almost all of the features of the
old one, and many new features. It also should be significantly faster
in most situations. However the command-line options have changed, try
"magnifier --help" for details.
Known bugs: cursor drawing sometimes has minor bugs when scrolling mode
is "FAST". Contrast settings are currently ignored. Event coalescing
is not yet invoked, so further efficiency and performance improvements
are expected over the coming days; likewise the memory footprint should
drop soon. "Borders" feature is currently untested, and not exposed via
the CLI yet.
regards,
Bill
