i just ran into this about an hour ago. you might try adding
/usr/local/bin to /etc/ld.so.conf, and running 'ldconfig' as root
ldconfig -v will tell you if it's finding the correct libraries
the source of my ORBit problems stemmed from a bum linc installation, so
you may want to try there
