Replacing GdkPrivate Types

   The private GDK types have been rearranged significantly in GNOME 2.0 and
   are not available on GNOME2.0 .

   Can somebody suggest some ways of replacing  the use of GDK private
variables .
   Can they be replaced with the corresponding non-private variables .
