Ouch, this is very scary. We need it basically working on GNOME 2 in a
little over a month - that is pretty darn soon. Do we have anyone
working on it for GNOME 2, or do we need some volunteers and fast?

We can punt the GtkHTML shell for GNOME 2 if necessary, and just get
the dialogs working, launched from Nautilus and panel menu. Then bring
the shell back in 2.2 or 2.0.1 or something.

We need to have the desktop starting up and working for at least a
couple minutes prior to crashing, by a week or two before the Dec 5
date, I would say.
