When you go to

    http://download.gnome.org/

the first time, you should use the "Save" link close to your favourite
mirror. This will submit you a cookie and remember the mirror next time
you come back.

After that, you can directly to to the subdirectories:

    http://download.gnome.org/GNOME/stable/betas/gnome-1.4rc1/
    http://download.gnome.org/GNOME/stable/betas/gnome-fifth-toe-1.4rc1/

This will redirect you to your favourite mirror (or a randomly choosen one
if you didn't select one first).
