Well, I've just downloaded nautilus 0.1 and couldn't find the desktop
mode - I guess you mean the one in CVS. Well, I anticipate that the
problem is that the `desktop mode' puts an X window over the root
window. I could send penguins to this window no problem, except that
I don't know its window ID. The same problem exists with xpenguins
and multiple enlightenment desktops, the KDE2 desktop, and CDE under
solaris. I trawled through the enlightenment code trying to find a
way to use multiple XQueryTree calls (and similar) to find the
uppermost desktop window but in the time I spend on the problem I
couldn't figure out a simple way. If anyone knows how I can do it
with the nautilus desktop or any of the other cases then I'd be very
grateful to hear from you. I'd of course have to cope with the errors
that would be thrown if the desktop window was destroyed and
xpenguins was still trying to draw to it, but that should be
relatively easy.
Regards,
Robin.
